Family Development is one of the originating programs here at Kla-how-eya.
The department is a vital component to our center that fosters the vision for healthy family foundations through cultural reunification. Family Development is shaped by several programs, which include:
•FAMILY STRENGTHENING WORKERS
Family Strengthening Workers primarily work with families that are referred by the Ministry for Children and Family Development and Aboriginal Child and Family Services in the Circle 5 Region.
(Circle 5 – Tsawwassen (Urban/First nation), Semiahmoo First Nation, Surrey , Delta, White Rock, Ladner)
Our workers follow a 3-month program that entails Intake, Goals agreement, and a Wellness plan. Throughout the three months your worker will provide practical assistance, advocacy, and one-to-one work while providing a safe and supporting environment. Our wellness plan incorporates the traditional tool of the medicine wheel. The wheel is comprised of physical, spiritual, mental and emotional well-being.
Our Family Development program offers opportunity for families and individuals to participate in cultural and spiritual activities and practices.
